Steven Clary was born in Winston Salem, NC and moved to Dallas, TX at age seventeen. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 9 and a half years in the computer field and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He learned how to fly in United States Air Force flying clubs with the world's best pilots as instructors. He is a former flight instructor himself and currently holds a commercial pilot's license with an instrument rating and is current in high performance and complex aircraft. After his discharge from the Air Force he spent many years in the computer field as a software developer and software development manager. He and his groups developed a considerable number of very complex computer software products for mainframe and PC computers that ran, and some may still be running, in many major companies in the United States and overseas. He is married and has three grown sons and has lived in the DFW area for many years. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1996 and was licensed to practice law that same year.
Being a criminal defense attorney requires an intelligent individual that can cope with heavy responsibilities and deal effectively, compassionately, and courteously with all types of people. Mr. Clary obviously has those attributes and has shown over the years that he is among the best in several rigorous and complex fields, including the legal field.
He focuses on criminal defense with some work in the immigration law area that is related to criminal defense. By concentrating in these areas, he does not spread himself too thin and has been able to achieve a high level of competency in the criminal defense area. He has handled literally thousands of criminal cases from low end misdemeanors (Class B's and above) such as DWI's to the most serious felonies in the 25 plus years he has been practicing.
He is authorized by the Texas Supreme Court to practice law in the state of Texas. He is also authorized to practice in the United States Supreme Court and in the Federal Court of the Northern District of Texas. He is a (fellow) member of the State Bar of Texas College which requires continuing legal education well above what is normally required. He is also a member of the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Rockwall County Bar Association, the Kaufman County Bar Association, and a distinguished member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association,.

Our Guarantee of Dedicated and Conscientious Service:
I will give you our guarantee that my office will do the best job we can on your case. As mentioned above, I have over 25 years of experience in the area of criminal law. I have handled thousands criminal cases with impressive results; A significant number of these cases were dismissed, no billed, or reduced to lesser offenses. Much of my business is from referrals or past clients which is a good testimonial that we are doing excellent work.
The knowledge and skills gained over the past 25 years will be exploited to the maximum in working on your case. I have handled fairly minor misdemeanor cases such as DWI's and possession of marijuana up to the more serious felonies such as continuous sexual abuse of a child which carries from 25 years up to life in the penitentiary. If we take a case to trial, we get into high gear and fight to our best abilities for you. My firm also has handled, and still does, sealing cases, record expunctions, and conviction set asides (ie Judicial Clemency) all over Texas.
We Treat All clients with Courtesy and Compassion:
Everyone in my firm knows to treat our clients courteously, compassionately, and caringly. We make it a point to return all calls promptly, to try to answer any questions that come up, and to keep you informed as to the status of your case. If you feel comfortable talking and communicating with us, the outcome of the case will most likely be enhanced.
Looking at Impact Beyond Current Case:
More than just handling the immediate situation for you, we also look beyond the case and attempt to minimize any impact that this may have on your future. We do everything we can to get your case dismissed or no billed or, if it goes to trial, a not guilty verdict. If we cannot, we try to get an outcome that will position you to be able to petition the court to get the record sealed, expunged, or maybe even a set aside in the future. Also, we encourage prior clients to call us if they have a question about the old case we handled for them or if they have any unrelated questions.
Advising on Immigration Consequences:
We are also very familiar with possible immigration consequences and do our best to minimize or avoid harmful immigration results of a criminal offense for someone that is not a United States Citizen. This can very important in that even certain minor offenses can have a devastating impact on someone's immigration status and, if not handled properly, the offense could cause that person to be deported. I do have a Spanish speaker on staff that can discuss your situation with you.
Flexible Payment Plans:
Lastly, we do have very flexible payment plans because we know that most people do not budget for getting into legal trouble involving a criminal case. This allows many people that normally could not hire a private lawyer to be able to obtain one of their choosing.
