These types of offenses are, or course, crimes where a person is harmed or is placed in fear of harm. The offense can be intentional or caused by recklessness. For example, a person gets in an argument with his wife and throws his cell phone against the wall and a piece of the phone hits her and she feel pain. This would be considered assault family violence even thought the person did not intend to hurt anyone. This section discusses all but sexual assaults which are covered in a later section.

This is an offense that is considered a crime involving moral turpitude. In other words, a crime that one knows is against the law and morally is not right. It requires an "evil mind" legally termed Mens Rea" in latin.
This a type of crime such as theft where you need to do whatever you can to avoid a conviction. If a record check shows one commited this type of offense the person looking at the report may think the person that was convicted of the offense is dishonest.
It is stronly suggested that if you or someone you know has been charged with this offense they hire a competent ciminal defense attorney.
If the person charged is not a United States citizen, it could have serious immigration consequences.
